Don’t let time overwhelm you by stressing out your life. Although it may seem like there aren’t enough hours in the day, as long as you plan accordingly, and then stick to the schedule you set for yourself, then time is not an issue. Integrating these 5 time management strategies in your life will not only help you immensely by organizing your life, but also help you squeeze out those precious extra minutes you can devote to your online studies.
- Make sure you plan your day. This doesn’t mean create an up to the minute schedule. But rather plan out the day’s activites and give a rough time that you should be getting to it. Work until a certain time, then allowing 30 minutes for traffic. Alloting 30 to 45 minutes for dinner. Then getting online, spending at least 4 to 5 hours in class. While not super specific so you don’t freak out if you miss the time deadline, this at least creates blocks for you to make sure you can finish your task within that time.
- Cook smaller, easier to cook meals. This way, your family and yourself will be fed properly, and not because you ran out of time and had to stop by McDonalds to buy dinner for the family. Efficiently cooking a nice meal in a short amount of time will save you time for studying and make you feel good as you head to your class online.
- If you have an online class that evening, try to get to work a half hour or an hour early. This way, you can get home earlier, and unwind and get into student mode before you get online.
- Use a calendar. Since you are on your computer most of the time, set reminders to notify you when tests are coming up, or if that project is due in a week. These helpful reminders will help you stay on task, so you won’t be surprised to find out that the essay was due yesterday.
- Stressing over the little things, or stressing when it is unnecessary will create a snowball effect. You’ll start to notice little things you didn’t do, or start worrying about things around the house when you are trying to concentrate during lecture. The less stress you have, the better you will manage your time, and the more efficient you can study.
