Nearly 400 million people speak Spanish throughout the world. In the Western Hemisphere almost half the population speak Spanish. In over 15 countries Spanish is the primary language. Learning Spanish may help build relationships with neighbors, since Spanish is spoken all over the globe. In the United States career opportunities are growing for those who speak English and Spanish. Learning Spanish also helps build a better understanding of English. This is because English has Latin origins. The grammar of English and Spanish are similar and allows an understanding of how English is structured.
