Earn School Rewards

Education is the foundation of any nation. Without a sound education system, it is quite impossible to compete with the most advanced nations. In 2006, total spending on public elementary and secondary education in the United States reached $553 billion. This is approximately 4.2 percent of national GDP. Yet, some people claim that there should be more spending on education. To help the cause, some companies are offering “Earn School Rewards” programs. In a sort of trade-off, these companies will give back more to the school when more is spent on their products. Let’s look at some of the more famous “Earn School Rewards” programs.

Campbell’s Labels for Education

One of the more successful “Earn School Rewards” programs in the U.S. is Campbell’s Labels for Education which has been running for more than 36 years. By purchasing selected Campbell products with 1 point or 5 points, patrons can help improve educational quality by giving the labels to the local school of their choice. In turn, the schools can use the labels to redeem a range of products such as computers, sports equipment, musical instruments, and many other items from a catalog. To qualify, schools have to enroll in the Campbell’s Labels for Education program, which is very easy to do. Right now, the focus is on the Academics, Arts, and Athletics programs.

General Mills’ Box Tops for Education

To date, General Mills has contributed up to $300 million to schools around the United States. When you purchase selected General Mills products, don’t throw the boxes away after you have consumed the products. Look for the Box Tops logo and clip it. When you have collected enough, send them to the Box Tops coordinator in the school of your choice. Your school will get 10 cents for each Box Top. This program has also sparked off Barnes & Noble’s B&N Kids “Earn School Rewards” initiative which donates 6% of the sales of selected books to the school of your choice.

Subway School Rewards

Just like the other school reward programs, Subway School Rewards allows its patrons to help the school of their choice by dining at any Subway restaurants in the United States. To join the program, you will have to get a Subway card at any Subway restaurant. Then, you have to load it with some funds and use it to pay for your meals. After that, you can link the card to the school of your choice and Subway will donate 2% of your purchase to the school.
