Four Features that Make Kaplan Stand Apart
- Advisors. One of the features we best like about Kaplan is its provision of dedicated Advisors for each and every student. First, from application to enrollment, an Admissions Advisor helps ensure that students understand the process and remain on track. And after that, from enrollment through graduation, an Academic Advisor provides students with any necessary support.
- Innovative Use of Technology. Kaplan also makes innovative use of technology to ensure that online students do not miss out on the part of education that can only be gained through interaction with others. Kaplan does this in the following ways:
- Interactive Seminars: Students and educators are able to exchange ideas and learn collaboratively through interactive seminars.
- Online Quizzes: After each lesson, students receive instant feedback regarding what they have learned through online quizzes.
- Discussion Boards: Discussion boards provide a forum through which students can discuss the week's unit with each other and their professor. Students can ask questions and respond to one another's queries. They can also form online study groups.
- Web Field Trips: Students are encouraged to conduct research using Internet research sites and share their research with one another.
The Kaplan School of Arts and Sciences has also recently purchased a virtual island Second Life, with the goal of having Group Help Sessions and Virtual Laboratory Exercises available for students who obtain avatars.
- Resources. Kaplan University also has another feature that many online students will find particularly beneficial. It provides extensive library services through LexisNexis and the UAH Salmon Library at the University of Alabama. The library has a collection of 326,000 volumes, with over 60,000 e-books. Students can view the library's catalog online and order books to borrow. Library books are delivered physically to borrowers, while articles and excerpts can be scanned and delivered electronically.
- Exceptional Staff. In order to providing its students with a top-notch education, Kaplan crosses all geographic boundaries to provide its students with 3,600 top instructors, professors and administrators, who are leading educators and practicing business professionals from around the country.
