Accreditation

In 1999, JIU became the first fully online university in the U.S. to be regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Academics

Jones International University is structured as two main schools:

• College of Education
• College of Business

JIU offers certificate programs in addition to degree programs starting from associate-level degrees and going all the way up to doctoral-level degree. Some of the notable Education programs offered at JIU include:

JIU also offers several master's degree programs to help students become elementary or secondary school teachers.

Admission

Students applying for admission into Bachelor degree programs must also show proof of proficiency by submitting one of the following:

• High school transcripts with a minimum GPA of 2.0,
• GED record,
• College transcripts with at least nine completed credits and a GPA of 2.0 or higher,
• High school/GED completion and passing scores on Jones International University's virtual assessment exams

Master's degree applicants must submit transcripts evidencing a completed bachelor degree with a minimum GPA of 2.5.

Doctorate degree applicants must submit the following:

• A transcript showing a completed master degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0,
• An essay,
• A resume, and
• Three recommendation letters
