Five Features that Make Grand Canyon University Stand Apart

  1. Small Class Sizes. One of our favorite features about GCU is its class size. GCU prides itself in having small class sizes not only at its brick-and-mortar campus, but also online. It maintains class sizes to under 20 students and often the ratio is 13 students per faculty member.
  2. Simple Application Process. Another great feature about GCU is its simple and efficient application process. Filling out the application, including applying for financial aid, only takes about 1 hour. Upon receipt of a completed application form, the admissions office generally is able to review the application and notify the candidate within 1 to 3 days.
  3. A Good Buy. GCU has one of the lowest tuitions for online colleges. For this reason, it has been regularly featured in the Student Guide to America's 100 Best College Buys.
  4. Asynchronous Classes. Class lectures are pre-recorded. Students attend class when it is convenient for them whether it be the middle of the night or during their lunch break. On the first day of class, students receive all assignments, allowing them to work ahead if they wish. The University simply expects that students will access their classroom 4 times during an academic week Thursday-Wednesday in order to keep apprised of any emails from their professors.
  5. Cohort-Learning. Online programs at GCU are offered in a cohort-based model in which students advance together through a sequence of core courses, followed by a choice of area emphases. Some of the benefits of this model are that (1) students are able to develop lasting relationships with other cohort members, (2) they develop knowledge and skills progressively throughout sequence of courses, and (3) they can plan for a graduation date.
