American Revolution
The American Revolution took place between 1775-1783 when the thirteen North American colonies removed themselves from the rule of the British Empire. The conflict began when each colony became self-governing from England and then once united they declared independence in 1776. This war continued until 1781 when the colonies won and later in 1783 when England finally recognized them as a sovereign country. Then the Americans created their own republican form of government, eliminating the oligarchic and aristocratic structure of Britain.
