Veterans of military service have given many sacrifices to serve their country. For years military personnel has answered the call to serve their country in time of peace and war. In order to serve their country, service men and women have left their family and friends at home and often are sent to remote locales around the world.
Because of the sacrifices that service personnel have given to their country, the country has looked for ways to repay the faithful military personnel. Over the course of time the country has thanked service personnel in several ways including paying them for their service, medical coverage for service people and paying them for returning to college after being discharged from the service. The principal of these services is from the GI Bill.
The GI Bill was originally called The Servicemen’s Readjustment Act of 1944, and was signed when service personnel were returning from World War II. While the original bill was put in place to help returning servicemen get jobs, pay for medical care, provide funding for homes and provide them with a start to their post-military life, it has grown to include other aspects.
