Grammar is the set of linguistic rules of how to properly construct sentences and phrases. Understanding grammar is fundamental to create words and sentences, no matter what the language. In English grammar, students study punctuation, nouns, adverbs, conjunctions, verbs and adjectives. Children first learn prescriptive grammar in elementary school and continue to study advanced lessons as they progress in primary education.
